Steamed Savoury Egg
Was up for cooking last nite. Somethin light yet tasty so i wipped out da steamer and made this runny and soft dish with chicken, mushrooms and soy beans. The custard base (egg, dashi, salt, light soya sauce & sake) ~ 20 mins later.Bon Appetit!

Van's Book Corner
I am a SADIST. Yeah so I like to read all stories that are heart-wrenching, tear dropping and all. Most of the time I pick books that have strong female lead roles. Women that have been abused by loved ones etc.. This one I bought on Sunday...A story of a little girl Samira, brought up to be Samir (a boy's name) because her dad was ashamed that his firstborn was a girl.... then she had to choose between her desire to be Bashir's wife or betray her family and reveal her true identity... Apparently its REAL.... A must read.

The Attack of the Muffin
Had pizza for dinner last nite. Left the leftovers on the coffee table. My dog couldn't resist the smell and decided to chew a hole through it while we were out....and ate all the pizza toppings!!!!!
Kimchi Chigae
Silky tofu hotpot with loads of kimchi (SPICY to the MAX!!!!!) and mushroom. Presentation not too good but its soooo good with white rice. These are the kind of stuff I eat when the fridge is empty and i couldn't be bothered to buy anything from Safeway/Coles.

Oyakodon
Zero fat as no oil was used! Hmm..but the chicken pieces have blubber on them! Dashi stock, soy sauce, sake, mirin and some sugar. Voila...chicken is served! Sprinkle some roasted black sesame seeds on the rice to make the eating process even more 'salivating'. Too easy! But I always tend to over eat rice when I have oyakodon. Carb overload...oops

Signature Restaurant in Breathtaker All Suite Hotel and Alpine Spa Retreat
To begin...BBQ king prawns on ridicchio, egg plant and witlof salad (bitter) with lime coriander and sweet chilli syrup.
To satisfy...North Queensland wild barramundi crusted with macadamia nuts and sun-dried tomato on tumeric potatoes with baby spinach. Grain fed Victorian eye fillet with roasted kumara and truffle oil mash, topped with a wild mushroom and port jus.
To spoil... German apple strudel with berries etc and a dollop of ice cream instead of cream
No wonder this restaurant is in the Good Food Guide. Beautiful food on a nice cold spring night.
